I am so excited to be back UP North!
I grew up in Duluth, and my family and some of my closest friends continue to live and work in this community. Prior to moving to the Twin Cities I had worked at St. Mary’s Medical Center Duluth for eight years and was also involved in teaching figure skating at UWS. It’s been such a positive development in recent years to be able to live here part-time once again, giving my children the opportunity to understand why Duluth is such a special place.
In 2004 I made the decision to train as a hairstylist after a career in social work, and I opened my first salon in Minneapolis in short order, just 5 years later (in 2009). This South Minneapolis neighborhood salon (Rue 48) has been recognized nationally as a Top 200 Salon, in 2010, 2014 and 2017. Aveda has also awarded Rue 48 numerous times for Sustainability, Raising Money for Earth Month, Staff and Client Retention.
Since that time, it’s been my constant dream to own a salon in Duluth. I’m so grateful that I will finally have the opportunity to bring this dream to life in 2018.
I’m especially excited about taking what I’ve learned about owning an award winning Aveda concept salon, customizing it to serve Duluth’s unique needs and northern setting, at the only Aveda-exclusive salon in this community.
I am very pleased to have been able to purchase On-the-Canal, a salon in the neighborhood where my family and I live when in Duluth. I plan to continue to build on the previous salon’s solid reputation, make the most of its beautiful location, and retain its talented team of stylists. In recent years, in addition to rekindling old friendships as a member of Duluth’s community, I’ve met unbelievably generous, encouraging and supportive new friends, as well as many successful local business owners. I look forward to continuing to develop these relationships in the years ahead as we all work together to support our community’s growth and vitality.
