Heather Garcia (A Cup of Whimsy)

Heather Garcia

A Minneapolis native, Heather Garcia’s whimsical style is heavily influenced by her various trips to Mexico and Los Angeles. The vibrant colors and rich folkloric influences of these areas have wound their way into each of her paintings.

Playing with the idea of multiple stories or scenes within one painting, Garcia enjoys combining large elements, such as furniture or an interesting floor pattern, with smaller details like animals, plants, or outside scenes as viewed through a window or door.

A self-taught painter, Garcia has studied at the University of Minnesota and the Edina Art Center in Edina, Minnesota.

Garcia’s first public display of art was at the Government Center in downtown Minneapolis when she was eight years old. Since then, her art has been on display at a small galleries in the Brooklyn area, as well as several galleries and cafes throughout the Twin Cities area.
